DESCRIPTION:Writing a letter to a political prisoner or prisoner of war is
a concrete way to\nsupport those imprisoned for their political struggles.
\n\nA letter is a simple way to brighten someone’s day in prison by creati
ng human\ninteraction and communication—something prisons attempt to destr
oy. Beyond that\,\nwriting keeps prisoners connected to the communities an
d movements of which they\nare a part\, allowing them to provide insights
and stay up to date.\n\nWriting to prisoners is not charity\, as we on the
outside have as much to gain\nfrom these relationships as the prisoners.
Knowing the importance of letter\nwriting is crucial. Prisons are very lon
ely\, isolating\, and disconnected places.\nAny sort of bridge from the ou
	tside world is greatly appreciated.\n\nMaterials provided!\n\nTuesdays\, 7
-9pm\n585 Woodward Ave\n\nRidgewood Commons events are donation based\, wi
th no one turned away for lack of\nfunds. Tickets claimed through Withfrie
nds serve as an RSVP\, and help us have an\nidea of how many people to exp
ect.\n\nRidgewood Commons relies on support from the community to keep its
doors open\,\ndonations are appreciated. If you'd like to become a sustai
ning contributor or\ndonate\, you'll have an opportunity during checkout\,
and you can always put\nsomething in the donation jar.
